Sound of Music founder John Morand has worked with musicians and filmmakers throughout a 30-year career that has brought him platinum records and a reputation as Richmond's premiere sound engineer.


John brings a rare degree of precision and incredible diversity to the art of tracking and mixing, in 2012 serving as lead sound technician for the feature film Portrait of a Zombie, and regularly working with popular artists like Hanson, Black Crowes, Carbon Leaf, Lamb of God, Amos Lee, and RVA-based singer/songwriter Susan Greenbaum.


Whether cutting a record in Holland or making a film in Ireland, the Sound of Music team regularly takes on projects across the world and, of course, locally in our Richmond community.

Bruce brings a passion for making art, and a high level of business savvy to our operations.


Bruce oversees the booking of bands and also handles finances.

As a musician, Bruce is a member of the Dismal Swamp Lords, the Venus Throw, and also can be seen running sound for some of RVA's favorite venues in his spare time.

Matt Treacy is a writer, composer, event manager, theatre technician and local art producer originally from Huntington, West Virginia who now lives and works in RVA.  Matt oversees our CandleLight Studio and also serves as Sound of Music's website and social media administrator.


He is the founder of Free Jambalaya, a non-profit event company solely dedicated to bringing new works of art to Richmond stages, and is the founder of 2 Richmond-based bands: The Good Brids and The Electric Devastation Orchestra.

Greyson is one of our go-to engineers who regularly works with many of Sound of Music's anchor clients including Imaginary Sons, Manitree, EFEL 502, EFEL 502, Headlessmantis, Affirmative Groove, and Suneater, a band for whom he provides the lead vocals.  Greyson will be producing Ashes' album in August.


Greyso also has extensive experience as a lighting designer, running lights for Strange Matter, The Broadberry and and a number of live venues around RVA.  You'll often catch him working productions at Banditos and Ashland Coffee & Tea.


Engineer, producer, musician and event host, Clef Majorz brings an eclectic approach to his music, and an appreciattion for all genres that gives his work a truly unique sound.  The founder of music label EpickMusickGroup (EMG) in 2010, Clef has since joined the team at Sound of Music to share his expertise and produce some hit records.


Scott brings years of experieince as an engineer and manager to the sutdio, not to mention a lifetime passion for all things music.


Along with his manegerial responsibilities, Scott also serves as a session musician, and Sound of Music's IT technician.
